Physical modelmaking is fundamental to our design development process. Architecture students often only see the final fancy presentation models, so we were thrilled to be able to show them how simple models can help them to explain how they reached their final design, which is what their tutors often look for.
Visiting our Manchester studio, 30 third, fifth and sixth year architecture students met with our wider architectural team and asked us insightful questions about how the modelmaking process works on our live architectural projects and what materials we use. Their enthusiasm and interest left us all excited about reviewing their award entries. We also learned that students want more sparkly foam board - the blue model foam they use, apparently isn’t as sparkly as ours!
The awards will be presented by us at this year’s MSA End of Year Show on June 8th. For more information on the awards, please visit B.15 Modelmaking Workshop’s blog.
