One Practice is an ethos and culture that is encouraged and celebrated across SimpsonHaugh to ensure all staff members across the practice, regardless of location, are working together as one in a collaborative, creative, cohesive manner, providing the opportunity to harness the very best from our talented and diverse workforce.

This year’s event, held in Manchester, was the first occasion since 2019 we’ve been able to gather everyone together from our London and Manchester studios as one team, to celebrate our individual contributions and everything we’ve achieved collectively as One Practice.

Since our last One Practice event we’ve welcomed 40 new team members to the practice. We also recognised 33 team members who have reached a key long-service milestone since the last event. The event was a celebration of continued longevity and performance across the practice.

We began the day with a business update presented by Co-Founding Partners, Ian Simpson and Rachel Haugh, at the beautiful Hallé St Peter’s in Ancoats. Ian and Rachel not only acknowledged key practice and project milestones we’ve recently achieved, but also announced and communicated some of the exciting things to come.

After the Hallé, we then headed over to PLY in the Northern Quarter for pizza, drinks, and a celebration of our achievements, before heading off to visit the newly opened Mayfield Park, Manchester’s latest public park. The London studio also had the opportunity en route to see Manchester New Square, Charles Street Maldron Hotel, New Wakefield Street and Viadux, and visit the Great Jackson Street regeneration area with the recently completed Deansgate Square and Crown Street Phase 1, as well as the Crown Street Phase 2 towers (The Blade and Three60), which are progressing on site. We ended the day at Laughterama, an open-air comedy festival at Castlefield Bowl.

Some of our team members were meeting for the first time, the rest enjoyed being able to meet up again after such a long time. Our One Practice event is important to us as it provides an opportunity to acknowledge everyone’s contributions and celebrate all that we have achieved together. We’re proud to have an excellent team who not only work hard together, but also hold strong friendships that are built on trust, respect, loyalty, and empathy.

Despite the challenges posed by Covid, it’s amazing to see the practice continue to grow and develop. We look forward to gathering again as One Practice in 2023 – location to be confirmed!
