It was a pleasure to be in attendance at the Nobu, Viadux Phase 2, Groundbreaking Ceremony, which took place on Tuesday 11 November in Manchester.

Co-founding Partner Ian Simpson joined Nobu Founders Robert De Niro, Nobu Matsuhisa, and Meir Teper, alongside Struan McKenzie, Trevor Horwell, and Hiro Tahara from Nobu; Kingsley Thornton from Domis Construction; Simon Ismail from Salboy; and Councillor Bev Craig from Manchester City Council, for the ceremony. The event marked a significant milestone for the city, bringing together visionary leaders and creative minds behind the project.

An upcoming mixed-use development in Manchester City Centre, Viadux Phase 2 will include Nobu’s first branded residences in the UK. Rising to 246 metres, the tower will feature a Nobu-branded 160-room hotel alongside the 452 luxury residences, complemented by one of the world’s most celebrated restaurants set within the historic viaduct arches.

Also forming part of Viadux Phase 2 is a 23-storey tower, sensitively positioned between the Grade II listed viaduct and Beetham Tower, which will also provide 133 affordable homes.

The ceremony marked the symbolic first step for the scheme and was a celebration of partnership, creativity, and shared vision. We are proud to contribute to this ambitious landmark project and are excited to see our designs begin to take shape.
