The ClassRooms is a community focused workspace in the heart of Stanley Square in Sale Town Centre.
As part of the redevelopment of the existing 1960's shopping precinct and Stanley Square rebrand, redundant first floor retail storage space has been remodelled and repurposed to create 9,000 sq. ft of vibrant new office space.
Designed for small to medium businesses, individual office suites of varying size and shared facilities promote interaction and collaboration and provide users with a place to make new connections and grow within a modern and unique work environment.
The design strategy prioritised retention and reuse of the existing building fabric. External brickwork was cleaned and repaired with new windows and insulation integrated across the full extent of the external envelope to improve thermal performance. To increase natural light to the office spaces, existing narrow format window openings were remodelled to allow integration of wider windows. Box frame surrounds to these larger windows adds further visual interest and depth to the façade.
Internal structural modifications were limited to openings in brick walls, required to link adjacent spaces, and removal of an area of floor structure to facilitate introduction of a double height entrance area. Internal brick walls and concrete soffits were exposed and integrated as feature design elements.
At ground level, the main entrance is seamlessly integrated into the remodelled retail streetscape of Stanley Square with a host of great amenities right on the doorstep.
The ClassRooms combines functionality and aesthetics and is a great example of building reuse and reimagining.
