It is important for us to recognise and reward talent at all levels throughout the practice and demonstrate that everyone has the opportunity to succeed and develop their career paths here at SimpsonHaugh. That’s why it gives us great pleasure to welcome four colleagues who have each demonstrated commitment, collaboration and initiative, helping us evolve a creative and learning environment, into their new positions: James Roberts, Ben McNally, James Slocock, and Thomas Lonsdale.
James Roberts, Associate
“Achievements I am particularly proud of include surviving the last 11 months of lockdown and juggling work with an isolating toddler! The planning approvals for both CIS and Slot Site Stair & Lift were great to be involved with, as they were both complex and challenging for very different reasons; one being 600,000sqft of listed office space that will restore an important building within the city for the next generation of office workers and the other being a scheme that is small in scale but will create an important north-south pedestrian route within the city and potentially support a tower above it. Over the course of the last year, it has also been great to work on the early stages of some exciting projects in the city.“
Ben McNally, Project Architect
“5-a-side nights every week were great, we had a good group of regulars both in and out of the practice, and it’s something I looked forward to every week, even if I had to organise it. Antwerp as well, both going with the practice and a year earlier on a short break and arranging a private tour of QEH: it really was fantastic being able to experience the project not once but twice!”
James Slocock, Project Architect
“For me, the best part of working at SimpsonHaugh is the people. I have made some really great friends here and we are a genuinely fun and diverse family who are always happy to support each other.
4 Angel Square recently had its breaking ground ceremony and getting to this stage in the project is a great achievement for the team. The wealth of experience the project has given me has certainly been one of the defining moments in my career development. I am fortunate to have been involved from inception and look forward to seeing the project through to completion.”
Thomas Lonsdale, Project Architect
“The on-going development of Viadux is currently a real highlight. Being able to see the progress on site following a year of developing the design and co-ordinating construction drawings whilst working from home has been a real achievement and is due to being part of a dedicated and talented team.“
