The award was presented on Thursday 7th December at the awards dinner in London to our team representatives, David Green and Henry Mulligan, client representative Alan Cayton from Transport for Greater Manchester, and Neil Swanson from Landscape Projects, responsible for the project’s landscape design.

The project team is delighted to receive complimentary comments from the jury, who described the project as “a seamless part of the urban fabric with interesting topography”. The jury also had high praise for the incorporation of an 11m-high living green wall, and the slate platforms with sedum tray inserts that create a green track surface, noting that “to see decoration pleasure incorporated into a modern design is immensely welcome”.

The jury also commended the way that circulation into and around the station unites and enhances several forms of previously disparate transport infrastructure in a generous and imaginative way. They concluded that the project had “a complex brief that seemed to be completely met.”

Last year, the project was also received a Natural Stone Award for Landscaping.
