Founded by Ian Simpson and Rachel Haugh in 1987, SimpsonHaugh has developed a strong presence in both Manchester and London. Now in our 36th year of practice, we are thrilled to be opening a new studio in Birmingham.
The new studio will operate from Alpha Tower on Suffolk Street, Queensway, and will be headed by the practice's group of Partners, in particular Matthew Ayres and James Hind.
Placed 45th on the Architects' Journal AJ100 and operating internationally from our UK base, we currently have over 100 people working across our studios, and we hope to continue achieving sustainable growth.
The practice's first project outside of Manchester was The Foyer in Birmingham. However, our most well-known scheme within the city is Holloway Circus, a Radisson Blu Hotel with apartments above, which completed in 2006. We have since delivered additional projects across the West Midlands, including purpose-built student accommodation schemes, City Village and City Point, which, combined, provide 985 student bedrooms and ancillary accommodation.
Currently progressing several ongoing projects within Birmingham, we hope to further develop our presence in the city and look forward to collaborating with like-minded organisations in the region.
