It is important to us to recognise and reward talent at all levels throughout the practice and demonstrate that everyone has the opportunity to succeed and develop their career paths here at SimpsonHaugh. That is why it gives us great pleasure to welcome three colleagues who have each demonstrated commitment, collaboration, and initiative, helping us evolve a creative and learning environment, into their new positions.
Congratulations to Elena Machin, James Hind and Simon Critchley. Please see below details of their valued contribution to the Practice.
Elena Machin, Partner
"Elena has proven her architectural design talent, and has repeatedly demonstrated intelligent, quick, and assertive thinking. Elena brings technical experience and knowledge of building systems, in particular facades. She has proven to be extremely efficient during project planning, applying a keen ability to evolve a strategic overview of all the design team issues on a project.
"Elena has demonstrated her ability to lead and direct a project team and has shown a willingness to present projects to clients and design team consultants. She has also displayed a keen interest in the practice's strategic development, contributing ideas concerning business development and IT/file structure systems."
James Hind, Partner
"James has a great talent in developing projects from inception to completion and has consistently delivered projects which demonstrate exceptional design qualities. James has shown his ability to respond to both the macro and micro on projects and looks to create beauty and interest at all levels of a project. James is thorough in his oversight of projects pushing the internal and external teams to develop the best possible outcome in every instance.
James has tirelessly engaged in Business Development and the evolution of the practice profile. He has given many well received talks, particularly relating to sustainability, and his research and knowledge of this has informed projects and the practice generally. James has developed many positive relationships within the practice, with the consultant teams and critically with potential clients. He works hard to secure both repeat and new work for the practice. He is also always willing to support others in their architectural journey."
Simon Critchley, Partner
"Simon is a great designer who has repeatedly demonstrated effective communication, presentation, and leadership skills. He is able to develop and present design ideas clearly and his detailed understanding of design and construction processes helps him to lead our team, and project design and construction teams to deliver successful outcomes.
"Simon has been a key team member on a number of major projects, most significantly on the Battersea Power Station competition and, in a leadership role, on Manchester New Square, Two St Peter's Square and, currently, in the planning application for a 150-bed hotel on Laystall Street and in the delivery of production information for Trinity Islands."
