UrbanistasNW held the opening night for their first Architectural Exhibition on Thursday 9 March in Manchester. Urbanistas is a platform to positively promote the achievements of women as role models whilst creating a support network for both men and women.
Centred around International Women’s Day, the exhibition aims to celebrate built and unbuilt projects led by female innovators in architecture and urban design in the North West. The ambition of the exhibition is to create a platform to celebrate women in the industry.
SimpsonHaugh were pleased to have the opportunity to be involved in the exhibition and to have the professional contributions of 7 women from the practice included.
We were extremely proud to see the work of Rachel Haugh, Elena Machin, Helen Trott, Fairuz Hanapiah, Kate Newman, Kerrie Buckley and Sanna Wennberg featured within the exhibition. It was wonderful for these individuals to be recognised for all they have achieved through their dedication and passion for beautiful design. Along with the other women featured, they are such an inspiration for young people at the beginning of their careers. As a practice, we see International Women’s Day as a great opportunity to thank our female colleagues for their commitment and invaluable contribution to our practice’s success. We pride ourselves on being an open, equal, and inclusive practice for all.
The opening night was such a great opportunity to celebrate the strong design community in the North West and all that continues to be achieved within the region. Congratulations to UrbanistasNW for creating such a valuable exhibition that showcases the talent and contributions that have been made to the urban environment. We look forward to supporting their future events.
